The only certain method for losing weight is to take in less energy that you expend.
The following foods may help a little though and are all healthy additions to any diet.

6. Chillies – raise your metabolic rate for up to 2 hours after eating

Add to curries, pasta sauces and fish dishes.

7. Wholewheat pasta – releases its energy more slowly than white pasta, provides a great supply of energy for exercise and very filling

Cook prawns, chilli, asparagus, cherry tomatoes and toss into cooked wholegrain fusilli with chopped parsley and black pepper.

8. Asparagus – a diuretic food, which means it promotes the elimination of excess fluid from the body

Steam asparagus for 4-5 minutes as a starter or side dish

9. Apples an pears – lower GI than other fruits and apples are a particularly good source of pectin, a type of soluble fibre which may aid weight control.

Take with you as a portable, healthy snack so that you never need go more that 3-4 hours without eating.

10. Natural live yoghurt – low in fat and high in ‘good’ bacteria, which promote healthy digestion. Imbalances in gut bacteria have recently been linked with obesity and research suggests that modulating gut bacteria could be beneficial for improving blood sugar control.

Have natural yoghurt for breakfast topped with fruit, nuts and seeds.
